I personally use QGIS open software (desktop version 2.14) to convert .kmz and .kml files to .shp files and load those into my AutoCAD MAP 3D. You can do this through a data connection, or by using _MAPIMPORT if you prefer to have AutoCAD data instead of .shp data.If you do this, make sure you convert to the right coordinate system for you. Google uses WGS 84, so all data you extract from google will have that coordinate system, but if you need to use a different coordinate system on your workstation, or for your client you want to do the conversion between systems at the same time as when you convert from .kmz or .kml file to .shp file. The program might look a bit daunting if you haven't worked with it before, but in the end if you know what you want to do and you have experience with other GIS software (AutoCAD MAP 3D fe.) you can easily find what you need to do, there are a lot of step-by-step guides to find on the internet as well.EDIT:The other way around works as well, you can extract your data (CAD-data or .sdf data or other) to .shp data with AutoCAD MAP 3D and use the QGIS software to convert it to .kml data.

KML (Keyhole Markup Language) file format for Google Earth and Google Earth Pro allows you to store geographical data including point, line string and polygon geometry in XML textual format. Our Automapki Application for AutoCAD, BricsCAD and ZWCAD allows you to import KML maps into DWG model space and recreate every line string, polygon and Collada DAE model geometry saved in the KML file. The longitude and latitude KML coordinates are automatically converted to your geospatial coordinate reference system defined in the DWG drawing. The Automapki Application can also export your polygon and curve DWG drawing entities to KML file format which can be processed further in Google Earth.
DWG (AutoCAD Drawing) binary file format is developed by Autodesk company but it's supported also in other software packages e.g. ZWCAD, BricsCAD and IntelliCAD. Indeed DWG files are the standard now in the overall CAD industry. To support DWG files conversion into other 3D file formats we have developed the Automesher Application which runs as a plugin in your favorite DWG editor. It means that you need to have your DWG drawing editor installed first before using our software to convert to or from DWG file format.
With simply powerful interface Google Earth combines and displays stunning graphics and a planet full of data to which anyone may add information and share that information with the rest of the world in just a few clicks. In a very short time Google Earth became very popular (More than 1 billion downloads) Because of its simplicity and power. It is simple to use yet highly stable.
You can mark locations & paths in Google Earth and save it as a KML file. These files cannot be opened in AutoCAD Directly, which works on Cartesian coordinate system. KML to CAD will convert all the point information present in KML that is Latitude Longitude to respective UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) and prepares it as a DXF (Drawing Interchange Format, or Drawing Exchange Format) file which can be opened in CAD Packages like AutoCAD.
Click on Email button, In case if you want to download the drawing later. When you chose this option, file link is emailed to you. Please note that you have to download the required file within 24 hours. Later these drawings are deleted forever from the application (Server).

Keyhole Markup Language (KML) is an XML-based format for storing geographic data, and is a common format for sharing data with non-GIS users. It can be composed of point, line, polygon features, and raster imagery with either a .kml or .kmz file extension. This article provides the steps to convert single or multiple shapefiles to a KML file in ArcGIS Pro.
Add the shapefile(s) to the map. Refer to Add a shapefile to the map for steps to do this.
To convert multiple shapefiles to a KML file, group all the shapefiles in the Content pane. Skip this step if converting only one shapefile.Press Ctrl and click to select the desired shapefiles.
Right-click a selected shapefile, and click Group. The selected shapefiles are grouped into New Group Layer.
In the Geoprocessing pane, click Toolboxes, and navigate to Conversion Tools > KML > Layer To KML.
In the Layer drop-down list, select the shapefile or the layer group containing the shapefiles.
Set a name and location for Output File.
Set other parameters as desired, and click Run.
The converted KML file is located in the specified output location with a .kmz extension (compressed or zipped KML files). The image below shows the KMZ file opened in ArcGIS Earth.
GPSBabel converts waypoints, tracks, and routes between popular GPS receivers such as Garmin or Magellan and mapping programs like Google Earth or Basecamp. Literally hundreds of GPS receivers and programs are supported. It also has powerful manipulation tools for such data. such as filtering duplicates points or simplifying tracks. It has been downloaded and used tens of millions of times since it was first created in 2001, so it's stable and trusted.
Almost certainly. GPSBabel runs on Microsoft Windows 10-11, MacOS, Linux, as well as POSIX OSes like FreeBSD. This is amazing! What does it cost?GPSBabel is free software. It is free to download and use, and it's free to modify for your use, as it's distributed under the GNU Public License.
The native QGIS KML importer creates separate layers for each folder within a KML. If there are hundreds of layers, the import can be very slow or can crash QGIS. This plugin only creates one point layer, one line layer, and one polygon layer. It adds the nested folder structure to a field in the QGIS layer. This makes the KML/KMZ import very quick. An additional tool looks at the KML description field to see if there are two column tables with entries, "tag=value" pairs, or "tag: value" pairs that could be expanded into table fields. It can export point, line, and polygon layers to a KMZ preserving basic styling for simple, categorized and graduated styles. It can also extract ground overlay images and convert them to GeoTIFF images.
I'm currently trying to develop a workflow for converting KML to shapefile using OGR2OGR command within GDAL. The conversion seems to work fine for some KMLs that have basic information included within the Description. However, when the Description contains fields populated with HTML tags, it doesn't recognize the content, and cannot parse the data into fields within the Shapefile. I found a "KML Tools" plugin for QGIS that has a tool called "Expand HTML Description Field" that will do exactly what I need. The problem is QGIS may not be approved to install on our network, however, GDAL is. That said, I'm trying to use GDAL to build the solution. 2ff7e9595c
